A surgeon is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for emergencies and urgent care. After hours, a surgeon can be reached by calling the office and leaving a message with our answering service.

Appointments

It is always preferable that appointments be made in advance. However, emergencies require urgent treatment. If this is the case, please explain carefully to the Receptionist the nature of the injury, and we will make every effort to see you the same day.

If it is not possible to see you the day you call, we request that you seek emergency aid in a hospital emergency room where you will be evaluated. Also, if you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment we ask you to call us to cancel.

Initial Visits

Your first office visit will be the longest. During this visit you will be asked to register with the Receptionist and be interviewed by our Nurse Coordinator. You will then be seen by a hand surgeon who will review your medical history and perform a comprehensive physical examination. If necessary, X-rays may be performed.

Medical Correspondence

With your permission, the Hand Surgery and Rehabilitation Center will correspond with the physician who referred you to our office. In addition, we may communicate with that physician to discuss the nature of your disorder as well as recommend treatments and progress.
If your employer, insurance carrier or attorney requires a medical report, we will need the name, address and your written consent to release the information.

Follow-Up Visits

Your follow-up visits are not as involved as your initial visit unless new problems or concerns arise. Every effort will be made to schedule these visits on a timely basis which is convenient.

Calls to the Office

All of our staff have been trained to handle your calls. If you have a question for your doctor, please give the information to the staff person. Your call will be returned as soon as possible after reviewing your medical chart. All urgent problems will be handled immediately.

Prescriptions

All calls for prescriptions and re-fills should be made during our regular office hours. However, our physicians can be reached through our answering service for urgent problems that occur after hours.
